Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may be ecstatic about landing the cover of prestigious fashion magazine Vogue but there’s one person who just ain’t impressed.
While chatting with Australia’s Morning Show, supermodel Naomi Campbell didn’t hide her disappointment with the KimYe display.
“I do not want to comment,” she said before laughing profusely.
When asked why she didn’t want to put in her two cents, she responded, “Because I’m a fashion model and I’ve been working for 28 years, and when you get a Vogue cover, it’s a build in your career, a stepping stone to achieve that and you know, I’m a fashion model. What more can I say?”
The hosts continued to prod Campbell, who has been the cover star of Vogue multiple times. “So you think that Kim and Kanye haven’t earned the right to be on the cover of Vogue?” one asked.
“Those are your words,” Campbell responded politely. “I’m being politically correct. That’s Anna Wintour’s choice to put them on the cover of her magazine, who’s to question it?”
Wintour recently issued a statement after receiving backlash for her latest cover decision.
“As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching,” she wrote, “and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancée on Vogue’s cover. He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn’t true,”
She continued, “There’s barely a strand of the modern media that the Kardashian Wests haven’t been able to master, and for good reason: Kanye is an amazing performer and cultural provocateur, while Kim, through her strength of character, has created a place for herself in the glare of the world’s spotlight, and it takes real guts to do that.”
Watch Campbell serve the shade above.
