Tony Bennett (born Anthony Dominick “Tony” Benedetto in Astoria, Queens, New York, on August 3, 1926; died on July 21, 2023) was one of the most iconic voices in music.  It was actually Bob Hope who advised Tony to change his stage name Joe Bari to the recognizable name he has today. After signing with Columbia Records in 1950, Tony has enjoyed a lustrous career filled with hit songs, like ‘Because of You’, Rags to Riches,’ and, of course, his most famous hit, ‘I Left My Heart In San Francisco.” Though establishing his career singing standards, Tony would later leave Columbia Records to start his own label and record new music with other companies. In 2006, to celebrate his 80th birthday, Tony released Tony Bennett: Duets – An American Classic, recorded with a collection of stars including Barbra Streisand and Elton John. Five years later. Tony recorded Duets II, and laid down the track ‘The Lady Is A Tramp’ with Lady Gaga. Their work together was such a success the pair joined forces again to create a jazz standards album called Cheek to Cheek, which won them a Grammy.
