The Love & Marriage: Huntsville cast is mourning KeKe Jabbar, who has died at the age of 42.
Jabbar appeared on the OWN reality series, which follows a group of longtime friends (and frenemies) who live in Huntsville, Ala. Her death was confirmed by YouTuber Marcella Speaks, who shared a statement from Jabbar’s family during a livestream on July 2.
“It is with extreme that we announce the passing of our beloved KeKe,” Speaks said, reading the family’s statement. “She passed away peacefully at home surrounded in love. She was a mom, a sister, a great friend, full of life, love and laughter. She will sorely be missed.”
A cause of death was not given.
‘Love & Marriage: Huntsville’ stars react to KeKe Jabbar’s death
Jabbar was a cousin of fellow Love & Marriage: Huntsville cast member LaTisha Scott. Scott shared a brief statement on Instagram following Jabbar’s death.
“At this time we are asking for RESPECT, and PRIVACY in our moment of grief, while we process this great loss!” she wrote. “This is hard for our Family!!!!!”
Destiny Payton remembered Jabbar’s “kindness” and “light.”
“Prayers for your children, husband, and family. Your last words to me were, “Hold your head up, girl!” Those words will stay with me forever … Your legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone you touched KeKe. Rest easy, angel. Your light will continue to shine brightly!” she wrote on Instagram.
On her Instagram, cast member Kimmi Scott shared her prayers for Jabbar’s husband, Ameen, and their three children, Amaree, Aubree, and Ace.
“Rest Easy sweet soul! You deserved sooo much more than this world could give you! Your light, your story, and your heart were bright and pure and deserved to be highlighted! I’m honored to have experienced you!” wrote Love & Marriage: Huntsville star Stormi Steele in an Instagram tribute to Jabbar.
KeKe Jabbar and LaTisha Scott had a rocky relationship
Jabbar and her cousin had a rocky relationship on Love & Marriage: Huntsville. In one memorable scene, Jabbar tossed a drink in Scott’s face after a heated confrontation during a card game at a barbecue.
On the show, Jabbar spoke about her history of opioid use but said she was “100% sober” during filming.
“I’ve never taken any kind of hard drug. I’ve never taken heroin, cocaine, crack. I’ve never taken anything like that,” she told producer Carlos King during the Love & Marriage: Huntsville reunion that aired earlier in 2024. “The only thing I’ve taken is something that mostly all of us have taken, which is Percocet.”
Jabbar was last active on Instagram in May. Some of her last updates celebrated her son Amaree as he graduated from high school.
“My first born graduated from high school yesterday and it was such an emotional experience!! I didn’t expect 18 years to go by this fast! We’re so proud of you Amaree,” she wrote in one post. “Go shine like the star you are!!!”
