Nick Cannon is one of the busiest fathers in Hollywood, with 12 children in total. However, the television personality insists that he doesn’t formally pay child support for his kids.
During a recent appearance on Audacy's Hot 104.1, Nick explained that he doesn’t give the mothers of his children a set amount every month, but he insisted everyone is financially taken care of. "It ain't even about a monthly allowance or amount of money because I don't give myself that," he shared. "What they need, they get it."
"There's never been something that one of the mothers of my children has asked for and they didn't receive […] That's why they call me the provider," Nick continued.
The comedian also took a moment to express gratitude for his children’s mothers.
"Regardless of what goes on in any scenario, I'm gonna always show love and respect," he added. "I'll never say anything disrespectful or bad about any of the mothers of my children."
The Wet n’ Wild host welcomed his first children, twins Moroccan and Monroe, with his then-wife Mariah Carey, in 2011. He went on to welcome a son, Golden, in 2017 with Brittany Bell, who later gave birth to their daughter and another son in 2021 and 2021, respectively.
Nick also shares twin sons with DJ Abby De La Rose, who gave birth to them in 2021. She also gave birth to their daughter in November 2022.
Additionally, Nick welcomed a son with model Alyssa Scott in 2021, though the infant died only few months later. The pair welcomed a second child, a daughter, the following year. Nick also shares a son with model Brie Tiesi as well as a daughter with LaNisha Cole, both of whom were born last year.
This is the first time Nick has admitted to not formally paying child support. However, he’s previously insisted that he pays over six figures to care for his children.
After The Sun released a report claiming Nick pays $3 million in annual child support, the T.V. host responded to insist his children’s expenses are even higher.
“ I definitely spend a lot more than [$3 million] on my children annually,” Nick said in November 2022.
However, he also hinted at the time that there’s no formal child support arrangement in place, adding, “I don’t plan to ever have to participate in the governmental system of child.”
