‘Booksmart’ follows best friends and overachievers Amy (Kaitlyn Dever) and Molly (Beanie Feldstein). On the eve of their graduation, these best friends realized they’ve missed out on the typical high school experiences. They become determined to make up for lost time and cram four years of not-to-be-missed fun into one night. ‘Booksmart’ is Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut. “When you’re in it, high school feels like life or death. I wanted to approach this film the same way a director would approach a high-octane action movie,” Olivia said in a statement. “I wanted it to feel like a buddy cop movie, where it’s about partners who have each other’s backs no matter what.” The movie features rising newcomers Molly Gordon, Billie Lourd, Skyler Gisondo, Noah Galvin, Diana Silvers, Mason Gooding, Victoria Ruesga, Austin Crute, Eduardo Franco, and Nico Hiraga. Jason Sudeikis, Jessica Williams, Lisa Kudrow, and Will Forte also star. ‘Booksmart’ will be released in theaters on May 24.
